Race Schedule
SORRY...DUE TO CONFLICT WE ARE CANCELLING THIS YEARS SERIES...CHECK BACK FOR 2009 SUMMER DATES
We are revamping the schedule this year due to other race committments this summer; next year we may return to a summer xc shedule...All racers will be charged an entry fee of $3.00 per race...if you sign up for all four races on or by the first meet you will only be charged $10.00 for all four races. There is no extra charge to participate in the team event so start thinking of a really cool name and call your buddies and tell them to start training. Team entries do not have to be sent in together, but one member of the team must list all the runners on their team on his or her entry form, the rest of the team members need to just write the name of their team on their entry form. We will post updated results on this site as soon as each race is complete so you know where you are in the standings. Good Luck and We will See You at the Races!
Meet #1 Aman Park
The first of four races....called the "Trail Monger" Course- not a fast course for time trial specialist or hill climbers but a good race course for trail runners.
Aman Park, Race distance is 3.5 miles. This course is not the course to try out those new shoes or latest running attire that you want to keep clean. This course will have it all.... hills, water, mud, woods, a definite cross country course that is challenging but fun. Approx. 100 meters will be run on pavement with the rest of the course being dirt trails. Parking space is limited so carpool if at all possible. For directions email the race directors listed below. This course is located on Lake Michigan Drive half way between GVSU"s Allendale campus and GR.
Meet #2 Johnson Park
The first of two Mountain Stages of the four race series...this course will be mostly flat with two Alpine Climbs.
Parking in the main parking lot toward the middle of the park. Race distance will be 5k, we will utilize some of the course run by many high school teams during their season.
Meet #3 Riverside Park-
The "TIME TRIALER'S" Stage...flat and fast course, no hills this is a course designed for the speedsters.
This course will be flat and fast. Signup location in the park will be the south parking lot by the Home for the Blind. Riverside Park is located on Monroe Street near Ann Street.
Meet #4 Richmond Park-
The PYRENEES...the final stage of the four race series will be the roughest and toughest, designed for the mountain climbers. This course will separate the Men from the Boys and the Women from the Girls!
You were spoiled with the Riverside Park course, now it is back to what real cross-country should be, sand, hills and spills should make for an exciting race. Email the race directors listed below for directions. The park is located on the corner of Richmond Street and Tamarack, just west of Alpine Ave.
Age Division's-Male & Female-18 & Under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
Medals will be awarded at each race to the top 2 finishers in each age division...special finisher awards will be given to all non-medal finishers. Runners that are part of a team are also eligible for age group medals. Team Championship award will be awarded after the final race. Team points are awarded by your place in your age group...1 point for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, etc. only your top three placers will score for your team and you can have up to twenty team members on your team. The tie breaker will be during the last race in the advent of two or more teams having a tie score after all four races then the crieria that will be used will be applied during the last race #4 at Richmond in which we will go to the 4th man and 5th if necessary to break the tie(even 6th and 7th if necessary, etc.) The team with the most #1 age group placers will be the criteria used for the tie breaker...so its important to have as many team members as you can run during the last race if your team is near the lead in points.
T-shirts are not available for the cross-country series, however we will have "Old Fart" training and racing shirts available for purchase.
